I stayed over night with Kristina next to her bed, she would wake every few hours crying and having some stomach discomfort. After 10-15mins. she would drift back off to sleep, and quite a while later I would too. I woke up around the same time as Kristina (7:30), I was surprised how tight she squeezed my finger with her left hand, which she didn't use due the IV line needle in that hand.
Mary Jo got in around 8:30 this morning, we were hoping to meet with Dr. Alsayouf (Pediatric Neurologist) sometime this morning about the MRI. Kristina is starting to eat better after finally making more space. She had a french toast stick, half a piece of bacon, applesauce, a bottle of PediaSure and some other stuff. We are trying to have her sit up more to use her stomach muscles and balance. Kristina is stronger she is keeping her head up much better/longer. She had fun kicking me through the bed rails. Finally, we got an appointment with the neurologist at 11:30am, he said it was "a wide-spread water shed injury, and not as centralized as once thought". His prediction was that she would make a full recovery from the damaged area, cool. We asked about the side effects of with the anti seizure medication (Keppra), it could make her sleepy, dizzy, or irritable, non of which we have seen so far. The nurse gave us a DVD for ChildServe in Johnston, they specialize in the recovery of brain damaged children. After watching the DVD we were impressed, they were the ones that could help her recover. The nurse was saying about discharging Kristina tomorrow if her morning x-ray came back clear. The nurse said that she had to check with to see if our insurance would cover the physical therapy. She came back later telling us there was no open beds until Monday or Tuesday. The nurse setup a meeting sometime tomorrow morning with someone from ChildServe. I went to work in the afternoon with Mary Jo to get caught up on some work. My mom and dad were there to keep Kristina company and work her little muscles some. We returned after work, and my mom said she noticed progress in Kristina. The nurses removed her last IV after seeing how well see was eating today. Mary Jo is going to stay the night with Kristina tonight, it shouldn't be to uneventful tonight.
