Well today is the day Kristina goes into Childserve (aka camp or school), I was a little concerned she would get scared of the nurses and would not want to work with them. We got to Childserve in Johnston about 8:30 am for the Transitional Care Unit check-in and orientation. After meeting with a variety of nurses, rehabilitation and developmental therapy specialists, Kristina had none of the anxieties that she had in the hospital, here there were no needles or owies, how nice. Around 10:30 am the Physical/Occupational therapists took her to the gym to start her evaluation process. We watch while she was doing her therapy they worked with a variety of toys, picking up, current hand dominance, overall movement, and motor skills. They rigged her up in a chair like apparatus with belts and wheels to help her start walking. We realize she has a long road ahead, but with her determination and spunk she can get better. We ate lunch with her in the cafeteria and put her down for her nap, and went back to work. We got back to her room at 5:30 the nurse said that she slept till around 3:00 pm, and woke up crying in a strange place, but was soon scooped up by a nurse. We meet my parents there with Connor and Nicole so they had time to see each other and play before we had to leave to go home.
